The FREE instal offer assumes the customer will send in their speedometer gage separate from the entire cluster. If the entire cluster is sent to SCP then a $20 surcharge will be incurred due to the extra time needed to dissassemble, reassemble and package the cluster for return shipping. Return shipping for the gage or entire cluster is extra.
Failure of the 1989-96 Thunderbird/Cougar Odometer Gears happens due to excessive heat and age. The odometer part of the speedometer has a small electric motor which drives a 16 tooth cam gear also called carrier gear which then drives a 20 tooth intermediate gear which drives the odometer and trip odometer. These two gears are what is included in our kit. I guarantee that the replacement of these two gears will solve approx. 99% of the odometer failures out there for these vehicles. Installation time is approx. 1 hour.

These plastic gears are made of a highly improved material over the original. Ours are a very hard plastic that is naturally slick so you do not need to spray anything on the gears during assembly. Coloring of the plastic gears may vary from what is shown in pictures but the quality remains the same regardless of color.

NOTE: On most of the '89 and some of the '90 speedometers these gears do not fit. If your speedo has two small metal screws on the front face on both sides of the needle then you have the style that is different. The '97 speedometer is completely different and these gears will not fit that application either.
