When ordering this item the customer will need their engine computers calibration code. This is found on the computer box bar code label on the connector. For instance, the computer shown in the picture to the right has a code of "U4P0". The calibration code is always the most bold print on the bar code label. The code is typically a 3 or 4 digit letter/number code.
Upgrade to one of our CUSTOM computer chips for improved acceleration and throttle response, better transmission shifting (on electronically controlled transmissions), improved cooling, and overall better vehicle performance. Each of our chips will be CUSTOM written for your vehicle and your specifications. Our product is NOT an off-the shelf chip, but instead a product customized to suite your needs.
Our custom chips are capable of handling up to four different programs. If a 2nd tune is desired then the cost is + $150 on top of the primary tune and this includes a cable with a switch to go from one tune to another. If a 3rd or 4th tune is required the cost is + $115/tune. All chips are identical with the exception of how many programs you wish to have. This allows you to upgrade if you needs change in the future. If you have any questions pleas call us to discuss. We do prefer to take custom tune orders over the phone.
Custom Tune Features That Are Available:
– 87 or 89 Octane performance program: adjusts shifts when applicable, optimizes spark for 87 or 89 octane at both part throttle and WOT, speed and rev limiters may be changed or removed, changes fan settings, and adjusts adaptive learning for fuel economy. Small fuel economy gain possible and HP gain is approximately ½ of the gains you would see from a premium gas performance chip
– Premium Gas performance program: setup for 91-95 Octane depending on what is available in the customer’s region. Adjusts shifts when applicable, optimizes spark curve at part throttle and WOT, speed and rev limiters may be changed or removed, changes fan settings, and adjusts adaptive learning for fuel economy. Fuel economy gains and HP gains average approximately 18-25 HP, depending on vehicle and its modifications.
– Race Gas performance program: setup for 100-106 Octane depending on what is available in the customer’s region. Adjusts shifts when applicable, optimizes spark curve at part throttle and WOT, speed and rev limiters may be removed or changed, changes fan settings, and adjusts adaptive learning for fuel economy. This program is intended for track use, and is only recommended as a secondary program and is not intended for a stock or mildly modified engine.
- Programs very similar to 87-93 octane except optimized for towing. All of the changes will be similar to the tunes shown above except shift points and transmission controls will be optimized for towing. Please specify tow weight and octane desired when ordering. We recommend 93T for vehicles towing a lot of weight
– Valet mode: Speed limits the vehicle to 30MPH and 2nd gear in automatics. Can also be detuned if supercharged vehicle
– Teen driver mode: Speed limits the vehicle to 65MPH and can also be programmed to detune horse power and torque
– Nitrous program: Will retard timing and add more fuel when selected. Custom needs to specify Nitrous kit, Size of shot, and if the kit is a wet or dry kit. We recommend using this in the dual program chips because when a customer is not using nitrous, they would get more benefit daily driving with one of our other programs. 50-75 HP shots maximum tuned fairly accurately via mail order.
– Factory Supercharged Tune: This includes optimized spark, changed fuel curve, adjustments to electronic bypass (if applicable), and all other changes in the Premium Gas programs. Please specify Boost levels when ordering this program.
SCP primarily offers custom tunes for the '89-97 Thunderbird/Cougars and the '93-98 Mark VIIIs but we may be able to offer a custom chip for your application as well. Call us with your needs.
Custom changes that are offered:
– Change spark for customer to use premium gas and gain more power
– Adjust commanded Air/Fuel ratio for more power
– Transmission Shift points altered
– Transmission Shifts firmed up
– Torque reduction decreased during shifts
– Torque converter lockup changes
– Speedometer calibration available for customers that have changes gears and electronic speedometers
– Boost bypass reduced or eliminated during shifts
- Shift light raised or removed
- Rev Limiter raised or removed
– Speed limiter raised or removed, assuming customer car is safe to do so.
– Electric fan settings adjusted on cars equipped with electric fan
– Adaptive learning optimized for better economy and drivability
- Knock sensor threshold adjusted on cars equipped with knock sensors
– Octane pin can be setup to compensate for race gas when removed
– Chip can be programmed for different injectors or a different MAF
– Adjustable Air control available to help idle on custom camshafts
– Idle in Neutral and Drive can be adjusted
– IMRC Control, can be deleted or adjusted on cars that have IMRC
